Sunshine Coast ANZAC Day Services 2022
Monday 25 April 2022 marks the 107th anniversary of the landing of ANZAC troops on Gallipoli.
Australians commemorate Anzac Day on 25 April every year. This is the anniversary of the day when Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on Gallipoli in 1915 as part of the Allies' invasion. Anzac Day draws large crowds of people to the dawn services, and marches are held around the country.
Anzac Day is a time for all Australians to recognise the more than 1.5 million service men and women who have served our country in all conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations. It's also a time to remember the more than 102,000 Australians who sacrificed their lives in our country's name.
Each year, commemorative services are held state-wide on 25 April. Dawn Service and commemorative events are held at many locations and RSL branches, including many across the Sunshine Coast.
We have sourced the details of the Anzac Day Services via information published by the various associations. Information correct at time of publishing. Please contact the relevant RSL for confirmation.

Mooloolaba |
At 4:55am on Monday 25th April 2022, the club will welcome the local community to share in the remembrance service, in a moving tribute that will acknowledge former and current servicemen and women from Australia and New Zealand. The service will include the traditional Last Post, with the Mooloolaba Surfboats Raised Oar Salute during the one-minute silence. In a solemn and breathtaking symbolic act of remembrance, as the sun rises over the water, boat crews will row out, lay wreaths of native Australian flowers and then raise their oars to the haunting sounds of the Last Post. The Last Post will be accompanied by a lone horseman from the 2nd Light Horse Regiment – Woombye Troop galloping along the beach. Servicemen and women will be remembered at Mooloolaba on April 25. The ceremony will also include retired Defence Force veterans leading the ANZAC DAY ceremony and Ode, Sunshine Coast Grammar School Bel Canto Choir and a Didgeridoo solo performance by Peter Tilney. New Zealand servicemen and women will be honoured with the Karanga (a Maori spiritual call of welcome uniting ancestors and the living) performed by Shelley Janssen. The service will also include a local Maori Haka and the New Zealand national anthem sung by Graham Stewart. The lifesaving club’s nippers will lay 12 wreaths representing Australia and New Zealand’s past campaigns, wars, peacekeeping missions and nurses. It will be the 13th edition of the service at Mooloolaba Beach, providing locals and visitors with an opportunity to honour and reflect on the sacrifices made by many brave men and women. Following the last two year’s cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Committee is preparing for this year’s event to be one of its most significant. This year, the 2022 service is even more poignant as the Life Saving Club will celebrate its centenary. The Surf Club Mooloolaba |

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
